Default Well crap, hit a deer

I hit a deer the other night coming home in the dark on a fairly low traveled road with no street lights. It literally came out of nowhere. I braked hard and the antilock brakes engaged. I think I took much of the speed of impact off. The impart sounded horrible but the car faired extremely well. I got an estimate for 1,545. There is no damage to the paint. The drivers side headlight is broken from the back side, the front grill and emblem are cracked in addition to the silver trim piece above the grill. There is a tiny crack on the very underside tip at the center of the bumper. The bumper otherwise was not dented or damaged. I have paint protection film on the entire front bumper and that was not damaged either. The shop, at my request is going to epoxy fill the small crack from the rear of the bumper. The crack is maybe an inch long. My theory is that the deer got the bumper with its hoof causing a lot of upward force which cracked the grill and emblem as well as the bumper. This sucks since the car is only 2 months old but when I got out of the car to look at it, I was seriously expecting the full bumper to be beat up. I am choosing to repair the crack because it is not visible at all. Plus I prefer to keep the factory painted bumper and I paid for the paint protection film too. Hope it comes back good as new since the damage is minimal. The head light is $840!!!! I have a 250.00 dollar deductible on comprehensive so I am taking this though insurance. I have been with State Farm and other than a small claim in 1992, this is my only claim.

The car will be as good as new. Glad it wasn't worse and that you weren't hurt.

Sorry to hear about the deer, but $1,545, consider yourself lucky. The deer that hit me cost $7,000 0.o

Ouch, sorry to hear that! At least the damage sounds minimal, and you should be back to 100% soon!

It was not a lit street so all I can say about the deer is that it was not there the next morning. I am hoping it survived. I am taking my car in next Monday. I look forward to it being fixed.

Glad to hear that you're ok. From reading your post the damage isn't to extensive. Hopefully your CT will be back very soon. Drive carefully out there...

Im glad your ok. I ran over a deer two years ago. Didn't see it. (New roadway and no street lights at the time) luckily no damage to my jeep. I sometimes wake up to find deer in my yard and subdivison hanging around mine and my neighbors flower beds.

Well my car went to the shop and is back. It is good as new. I was very lucky in that I had no paint damage. Happy to have my car back to "new" since it is only three months old!
