What is the plastic slot on the drivers visor for?

As another poster previously mentioned, I had to use it to mount my garage door opener because the visors are so thick that my clip would not go over it! I don't have the Homelink option, and there really are very few storage compartments on the car, so this worked very well for me. I did have to modify the clip a little bit (squish it down) so that it would stay tight onto the "slot".
