What's the BEST MPG someone has gotten so far? Anyone hit magic 50 mark?

I am getting ~ 5 mpg better using Sport mode (48+ on comp)..mixed driving city/highway..lots of hills around home in the city....For me the more fine control of the throttle and being able to see actual RPM of engine gives me better control of fuel consumption.

Speed makes all the difference
I'm about to turn over 5000 miles in my CT. Here's what I've learned:
1. There's little difference between Eco, Normal, and Sport for MPG. Some, but not much
2. Sport is the most fun to drive, Eco (for me) is intolerable. I drive on normal most of the time, but often twist to Sport when merging on highways, after stopping on hills, and in curvy hilly roads.
3. If you want to get over 50MPG, you need to keep your average speed below 60mph.
4. When I get on an interstate and drive 65-70+, MPG plummets.

I wont lie, There is a 2 mile stretch of HWY that has an incline to it and i will only do 62 Mph vs the 65 posted,due to the fuel plummeting hard .
I tried ECO mode when I got it and find I prefer Normal mode much better.MY in law must use Eco mode due to her super heavy foot.ECo helps help with pushing harder on pedal with not much usage for her

I believe one of the more effective (and more practical) way to hypermile is to surge and coast - get up to about 65~70mpg, and coast it down to 55-60mph, slowly get up to 65-70mph again and so on. Obviously if you have a lot of people behind you they going to be hating, but if it's late at night or if you are on a secluded road you can really up your MPG this way.

Completely agree with your post, especially comment 4. When I am on the freeway driving 65 to 70 MPG does got down quite a bit. That is the one thing that I wish was better on this car, i.e. better mpg when driving 65 to 70.

Eco mode is the easiest to reach the peak MPG mark because it forces you to drive slower and it also adjusts the AC,Power Steering etc.....I have achieved 52mpg on the regular on Eco Mode, my MPG goes plummets if I go Sport because I use sport for more aggressive driving. Using Sport mode for best efficiecy is counter productive to its intended purpose.
There big differences if you drive them how there intended to be driven, the power assist and maps, throttle response....it def has a personality issue lol.

Ummm no did you happen to notice your peddle feel is more numb? Did you happen to notice the assist from the Electric Motor is different from sport? Did u happen to notice the lack of power steering response? .....this all gives slower more dull performance. Driving normal in Eco mode is insanely slower then driving in sport mode form what the car is giving you.
If you cannot tell, then I suggest you examine the results of Eco vs Sport as far as performance characteristics. Anything that hinders the performance of the car to save on gas hinders your ability to drive it as hard as you may or may not desire, thus = forces you to drive slower ( less performance ).
Quite simple actually.
Of course you can floor it every time but the car is hindering max output thus etc.

I disagree with you. I drive 65+ all the time and will see 72 Mph for a good portion.Now, once you hit 75 mpg,yes your MPG will suffer big time.

when going the limit my MPG is around 19~ average... but when upping it to 75-80mph i would average 20.X~
i wish i had a CT

Alright... math time:
So I filled up yesterday after driving 383.4 miles (low fuel warning light came on) and it took 8.407 gallons to fill until the automatic shut-off clicked on the gas pump.
Last fill-up was also until it clicked, no "topping off"
Therefore: 383.4 miles on 8.407 gallons of gas = 45.605 miles per gallon, "click-to-click"
Display was reading 47.3 AVG MPG for this tank of gas, which is 1.7mpg higher than "actual" mpg value, or an error of +3.594%.
If I was actually getting 47.3 mpg, it should have only took 8.106 gallons until the pump clicked off. Even considering the error factor of the automatic shut-off on the gas pump, I don't imagine it to be off 0.3 gallons.
Let's see how this next tank full of gas does...

Interesting side note observation:
My wife has driven the ct for the past two weeks. The average mpg, gauge, she gets is consistently 38.6. When I drive it I am constantly running @ 42. She obviously has a lead foot!
