Default Thoughts on ct200h after driving one day

1. Driver's seat seemed hard at first and I was not comfortable.

2. Though power is lacking, it still felt sporty.

3. Love that the engine shuts off by itself after idling too long.

4. Found myself trying to keep in the ECO zone.

5. The seats seemed more comfortable at the end of the day.

6. Was glad to pick up my RX at the end of the day.

7. Costs less than RX by about $10 to $15K
8. Gets twice the gas milage of a typical RX
9. Corners better than RX
10. Unique and stylish design
11. Did I mention $10 to $15K cheaper and gets twice the gas milage and overall cost of ownership significantly less expensive?
12. Not called a 'Soccer Mom' by all my friends ;-)

RX and CT buyers are not in the same demographic.

Not sure that is true as we have considered trading our Mercedes Gl350 bluetech for a 2013 RX450h. The only thing that may stop us is that the gas mileage really is not much better and it is a smaller SUV.

Maybe we are an isolated case of demographics

I've seen alot of people trade their RX's in for CT's at my dealer....

the CT has really changed people's minds about the need for an SUV....

Can i join this Conundrum?
i have a 2011 RX 350 and a 2011 Toyota Prius ( trim IV)
my weekday car.. is the Prius which is a BEAST in LA traffic.
0-60 doesn't matter when your stuck at the 405.
for the weekend, i have the RX 350 and my Range.

as i have voiced out in other threads, people looking to buy a hybrid should consider the CT200h especially if they will go up in the trim level. (Prius III,IV or V)
i paid close to $33,000 for my Prius.

Now, trading in the RX 350 for a CT200 or even an IS/ES is so out of the question..
those who "did" trade their RX/GX for a sedan.. probably don't need an SUV in the first place.

We are actually in the demographics for an RX as opposed to CX. My wife and I are both in our late 40's and professionals with advanced degrees...we should have bought the RX. But we didn't..and we are happy with our decision! Go CT'ers ;-)

A friend and I test drove the CT last year. She was considering buying a hybrid. I suggested the CT. The ride was fun in sport mode. My friend liked it but wasn't ready to make the move just yet. She is reconsidering. She'll probably go with the Prius.

Would I trade in the RX for the CT? No. While I don't need all the space, the extra horsepower in the 450h has spoiled me. And I've been in an SUV for too long.

Having had the the RX330 and traded in for the CT, there are definitely downfalls which are easily overcome by its upsides. Size and power are the major differences, thats a given. However, if you need trunk space, you will not be happy.

What attracted us to the CT are the MPG, sportiness, and design.

in addition to being the gold standard in mpgs, trunk space was our major criterion.
so we went with a prius compared to a CT200h..
but i have to admit, i'm missing the Lexus interior of the CT200h.

i Honestly feel that there's no one car to rule them all.
So whether it's a 12,000 or a 72,000 purchase, there will be compromises.
with the CT200h, you're getting a very good interior that pales the competition ( Prius C, Prius V, regular Prius, Honda Insight, CRZ, honda civic hybrid etc).
However, you take some hit on the mpg.

For the frugal buyer, the New Camry hybrid is the closest to the CT200h in terms of mpgs.
and you get it for $10,000 less.

AGREED

RX is an SUV with tons of space and a lot more power + costs more! We have both the RX and just got the CT - go read my Build Thread for my first weekend's comments.

I agree the CT power is very low - if you are used to a powerful SUV, the CT will make you feel very very anemic.

We bought the CT for commuting but for spirited driving, please don't kid yourself, the CT is definitely NOT the keys you want to go for. I have plenty of fast cars but still respect the CT - it does very well for exactly what it's meant for:

a) Good MPG
b) Sporty handling
c) Great ergonomics, comfy seats
d) Good looks (yes this is always subjective)

I've had a 2004 RX330 and didn't like it at all. Traded it in after less than two years. I considered SUVs again in 2010 and bought a 2011 Porsche Cayenne S. That was one sporty SUV but I can't get used to an SUV and it also got traded in after 7 months.

A better way to put it would be we don't need one any more:-) People change demographics, I no longer need space for (kids) car seats, soccer bags or bunches of teenagers that can't drive yet a. I traded in my RX last week for a loaded CT premium and I couldn't be happier.

It did take a few days to get used to the seats, the RX seats are a lot more spacious, kinda like a lazy-boy rather than a sports car seat, but I like the CT seats now though I've yet to take it on a long trip.

I really don't get all the wanking about the CT's power, its not like the RX was a real powerhouse. Don't get me wrong, I loved the RX (which is why I kept it for 10 years) but it was marginal on power for its weight and couldn't handle for *****e! I love throwing the CT into corners and in sport mode it "feels" like its performing beyond the numbers on paper, I've had no problems merging onto freeways or getting up to speed so far.

As for space, what the heck are you people hauling!?:-) Sure if you've got kids or giant dogs this car is definitely not for you but if you're single or simply a couple what on earth couldn't you get in this car?
