When asked How to drive a hybrid efficiently by a beginner owner, I HIGHLY recommend using the CC.
Now with that said and done, DONT use the CC when it's uphill, engine strained and constantly using fuel.
Using the CC is a constant and very fuel efficient way to learn the hybrid system.

Cruise Control.....helps you maintain speed , period. I learn my hybrid system by driving my car normally. I don't drive it any different than any other of my vehicles except my Supra.
I get 40+mpg...... I use CC when on long jaunts on the HW only. I don't see how it helps you learn a hybrid.
Oh forgot , gas mileage and CC. I'd say if you set it at 55 you save gas if you set it at 75 you don't.

ok, let me rephrase my last statement.
using the CC on a flat running surface allows one to obtain extremely good mpg's while optimizing the benefits of the hybrid system.
