Jimmy you haven't been to the People's Republic of Kalifornia lately have you?

Last time I was there they stopped me for:

1) Window tint too dark
2) Car too "low" (they measured from the ground to my headlights)
3) Illegal exhaust
4) Illegal "racing" modifications

They let me go with just a warning since I don't live in California and my car isn't registered there. The cop said if he saw me driving around regularly he would impound my car.

Here's what really happened:

1) Window tint is Arizona legal (where I live)
2) Car is stock height
3) Exhaust is modified without CARB approval... ok I'll give them that.
4) He didn't like my intercooler or the fact that you can't really see anything in the engine bay... so he just wrote it up as "illegal racing modifications".

Anything without CARB (California Air Resources Board) approval and corresponding sticker and paperwork will be considered an illegal modification and can be grounds for impounding your car if they really want to.

I can attest that the above is true.

Moreso in Southern Kalifornia than northern, they're not quite as hard on us up here.

Unless you get caught in a pack.

If there are more than 2 ricers or obviously modified vehicles, be prepared to be pulled over for no reason whatsoever.

And if they catch you with out a cat? Say goodbye to your car. (Even a modified/aftermarket high-flow cat with CARB exemption can still be ticketed and they force you to go to a 'smog referee' or something).

They are truly evil eco-****'s here.

Ha ha, I guess not! Damn, that's crazy. I do have family out there, but we never really talk car stuff when I'm out there, as it very seldom happens.

Brokeafornia will declare bankruptcy this year ......you can see why.

We have smog stations all over here too they are a waste of tax payer dollars and time every new car now meets or exceeds all standards , so a few if limited use , should be able to run the streets. It helps with taxes ,registrations, insurance monies, parts stores......etc......they make more money from kids and people fixing cars up.

They allow street rods, all kinds of old cars on the roads half of them aren't safe to todays standards. Big boats spewing all kinds of crap. No boats have smog standards ?Tractors.....bulldozers.....etc

Set up a limited use standard so we don't lose all our freedoms. I fought for it here but my political connection didn't run the next term. I almost had it brought up for discussion here. I lost interest after that. 3000miles a yr was the limited use. Allows most people to drive to work too. Ohio and a few other states have these exemptions.

They bite off their nose in spite of their face.

Sorry for the late response. Been super busy with work and getting my air suspension purchased and installed before Hot Import Nights.

Still awaiting tangible data from Injen. Sorry. They've been busy with their own projects as well.

By the way, thanks for being a pioneer in the realm of CT modding Matt.

Even though I am dubious of the gains the intake may provide, I'm glad to see people willing to be the first to try something new.

It sounds sweet also

Can you ask Injen when this will be available for the public? I'd like to see someone else buy one and test it for an unbiased data point.

Holy, really! That's a CT exhaust with only the intake? Damn, much more sound than I imagined. Sounds nice, what's it like under normal driving/non sport mode, can you even hear it?

Oh, and did you really shoot that other one in a parking lot!?

The one in the parking lot was my car. I wanted to capture the intake sound from the outside so I had my friend drive it.

It sounds just as good under Normal mode. It doesn't kick in until the needle is at the top of the power gauge. I will upload a video with Normal mode for you.

Injen will be forwarding the dynograph to me very soon.

Probably will be the same price as the Prius MR Short Ram intake. I believe the fitment is exactly the same (same drivetrain), they just had to dyno my car just to make sure it had the same results as the 3rd gen Prius.

Depends on aceleration. You may get slightly higher MPG because it will take slightly less gas to burn to get you up to speed, but if you like hearing the sound all the time, your MPG will definitely drop.

Hate all you want, it's 81 degrees outside. California is still the best place to live in the world despite all of the negative aspects.
