Correct. You don't need the TVK-46 for ours because we don't have dvd/video capability; just nav.
I just picked up a 2013 CT w/NAV and the 10 speaker premium stereo, and I do have DVD capability. It was noted in the manual, so I thought I would give it a try while parked in my garage, sure enough, it works.
so you tried the harness or you just popped in a dvd while in park? good thing you mentioned this, i never bothered to look in the manual to check. i also have a 2013 with premium sound.
I did not get the harness...yet. I just picked the car up from the dealer on Friday. I was going through the manual and notice it mentioned DVD, I popped one in the player...nice surprise! However, once you put the car in drive and it goes into motion, the screen reverts to NAV, but the DVD audio still plays. I'm seriously considering the harness mod though.
1. Not sure about the 2013, but I would venture that' s identical because I doubt they changed the headunit wiring.
2. It has nothing to do with when you get in the car. Whenever you ARE DRIVING and want to be able to: enter a destination, call someone utilizing the dialpad, or make setup changes (add XM stocks, add new bluetooth phone or portable player, etc), you just now push the button. The button tells the system you are stopped and re-enables all the locked out "only when you are moving" features.
3. My 2012 does not play DVD's or utilize the screen for any video whatsoever. Wish it did or someone could hack it so it does. Was thinking maybe you could bypass the rear camera with a switch and feed aux video and utilize FM transmitter for sound. (still working on this idea).
I just installed my bypass on my 2013 CT200h and it works perfect. My 2013 already has the DVD player to check if yours does start your car put in a DVD make sure your parking break is on and if it starts playing then you have it. Now go buy yourself a bypass unit and get it installed. It took me some time, about 2 hrs but I was extra careful and was in no hurry.
