Default Extended Warranty or Not?

I wanted to see what people thought of buying an extended warranty at the time of purchase for the CT? Considering that this is a year one model based on a third generation Prius engine. Obviously, one of the key factors would be how long I'd intend to keep the car and how many miles driven. I've checked with numerous Prius owners (as a loose comparision) and none have had any major repairs or problems.

I got an extended warranty even though I am usually against purchasing them. I figured with all the technology, why not. If my nav breaks, it would have paid for itself. The no-brainer part is, if I don't use my extended warranty, then I get the full amount back at the end of the extended warranty period. And yes, this is legit and I have it in writing.

I purchased the Lexus Platinum extended warranty just to have a piece of mind going forward as I keep my cars for a long time. However, I didn't purchase it until about 1 month before my 4 year factory warranty expired. To me I knew I wanted the warranty but saw no benefit to purchasing it until the factory warranty was almost expired.

Hope this helps and Good Luck!

PS I'm told that once the factory warranty expires you can not purchase the Lexus Plat product so if you do wait, do not wait too long

^ this! you may want to shop around, too, as other dealers might offer the warranty plans at different rates.

Agree with TripleL! I've located a source for factory Platinum extended warranty at very attractive pricing; although I've decided to wait on the purchase until nearing the end of the factory 4 yr/50,000 warranty. PM for details.

I'm gonna get mine out of state. Will save a huge some of money and a additional year to boot. My dealer wanted over $2900, for a 7 year on a HS. Can't they be happy with just selling me the car?

Default Extended Warranty

You dont have to purchase the Lexus Extended Warranty when you buy the car. You just have to get it before the warranty expires. 4 Years or 50.000 miles.

You may sell or trade in the car before the warranty kicks in.
