Default CT 200h USA Arrival

If the CT200 won't be here till spring will all the bugs be worked out?
My experience has been to wait a year at least before considering a purchase because of all the problems.

Thinking of a vehicle purchase sometime mid to later 2011 either a GS or a RX or the CT. We will look at a M. Benz if we have to, even a new Ford might be looked at.

Since the CT is being released soon in europe, thats a good 3, maybe 4, months for lexus to see how it performs out in the real world. Hopefully thats enough time to fix any kinks that may appear.

Also, if you look at previous lexus releases ... there isn't much that has gone wrong in a first release (like the IS for example) ... I think you should be ok.

Of course. Those days of first year bugs are long gone. Cars are much better built than before as they are put through some pretty rigorous testing before the car comes out. Mind you the CT has been in development in all kinds of conditions prior to release. I really don't think you should have anything to worry about. CT comes March 2011.

We did buy a new '04 RX(1st Year Model Change) & had a bad dash noise(rattle) from day one till we got our '09 RX. This is why I question getting a 1st year vehicle.
Just hope the CT has been gone over good.

I work at a dealer which I won't name, and this first year model has had numerous problems, including with transmissions (we've replaced around five so far).. A dash rattle is very annoying for sure, but at least it's just that, a rattle... Though I have to say it should be inexcusable on a Lexus!

Which first year model are you talking about? 03 RX or 09 RX? He was saying he had a rattle in his 03 RX and didn't mention anything about the 09 RX.

To make it perfectly clear - our '04 RX had the dash problem. Our '09 RX is 100 % better, no noise at all. Only problem we had with our '09 is the cruise control did not disengage when you tapped the brake peddle, you had to push it quit hard. They fixed that but it is getting bad again so time to visit the dealer again. They are 45 miles away so we don't go that way very often.

First year problems are still a problem, even for Toyota/Lexus. The 1998 GS had numerous problems that had to be worked out. The 2007 ES 350 had transmission flare issues, VVTi oil hose defects, windows that could fall out, ect. The 2010 Prius in its first year only got an average reliability rating by CR. It is probaly best to wait at least a year, if not until the mid life cycle refresh to buy. By then most TSBs and recalls should have been worked out.

1st year problems were on the '10 RX. the rear bumper kept popping out on the corners near the wheel wells because of improperly designed clips.

That was mainly a problem with Canadian made RXs, not Japan.

You probably mean '04 because the 03 model year RX was still an RX300. 04 RX 330 came out in 2003.

correct....

10' RX450h's are made in Japan= no bumper issues...

as opposed to the Canadian BUILT 10' RX350's...a TSIB fixes the fault

does that make them any less of a Lexus? The point is that Lexus is not immune to first year flaws

The point is that the ct200h will be made in japan... Those first year problems were from canadien Lexi (which yes, I agree, should have the same quality as the ones made in japan)
