CT200h moved from USA to Europe
2012 model ct200 was relocated to Finland. What is the extent of work to update navigation system from USA maps to Euro maps?

You are in the wrong forum but we will try to help. You probably just need a new European map disc (or usb thumb drive). Just ask the dealer. Also, go to www.navidvd.com. They sell Europe and North America versions for reasonable prices. Try contacting their customer service. Some members find "bootleg" discs on Ebay for $10 to $20 and have had good luck.

Here in FIN I was told that the whole HW needs to be replaced. However, if I buy Europe maps from the USA, it should work, eh? BTW, why do you say I'm on wrong forum? Is this forum for NA people only? Thanks...Jokela

It's for everyone, Jokela. You're in the LS430 forum currently. There is a CT specific forum here on Club Lexus, and there are members from various points around the globe on that forum. You're more than welcome to post here, but if it's vehicle specific, you need to really post in the designated forum.

Navi systems
When you take your CT200 to another side of the world, you notice that maps don't cover the whole world. I moved from the USA to Finland and when I asked the local Lexus to quote map update, somebody told me that Lexus used three different navi hardwares: NA, Australia and Europe. In order to change maps, the hardware would need to be changed too. Anybody heard anything like this?

Jokela,
Refer to Post #9

It seems that it's a external hard drive swap that must be done to transition you from USA to EU mapping.

I agree. We will stay on smart phone navigation. Our situation is not so common or critical that more energy could be justified. Adding a fog rear light (last remain of FIN car bureaucracy BS) was big enough a challenge.

Check this out: http://www.lexusnavigation.com/how-to-install-update/
The CT is covered near the bottom of the list. The years before 2014 appear to require a dealer to do it.

Out of curiosity, how much did it cost to ship it to Europe? Are there also taxes, tariffs and/or registration fees that have to be paid on top of the shipping fee? Also is there insurance if anything happens to the car when it is being shipped?
