Want to change stock halogen headlight assembly
Hi All,
So I have a 2015 CT F-sport with halogen headlamps - I went and changed the halogen bulbs to LED bulbs. Unfortunately, they didn't have any models with LED headlights in stock when I bought my car But they look so cool so I was wondering if I could simply order some from the dealership and have them assemble it (without the LED lamp washers of course).
I called the parts service at my dealership, and they said that you can't simply change the headlight assemblies because the wiring harnesses are different?
Does anyone have experience or more information about this? Thanks!

If you're savvy, i'm sure you can buy used on eBay for around $400 each (if you can find them) and just integrate the wiring. Can't be that hard. New assemblies from the dealer I believe list at $2500 each.
Do what I did and use Genuine Lexus RX350 bi-xenon equipment with professional ballasts from Lexus and superior bulbs from Germany, custom wired, custom installed. I'll write a guide on it soon.
Don't do that LED trash for main headlights. It may look cool from the exterior but performance will be poor. (By LED trash I mean aftermarket bulbs)

Yes, you have just one of the many ways to modify CT200H's poor original factory headlights. I'm not saying your way is better or worse. It's all relative. One thing for sure, just stick a cheap aftermarket HID bulb/blast to the original headlights assembly is not the way to go due many reasons. After all, the cost of an aftermarket cheap HID kit will probably cost more than the LED bulbs that I had used for the last two some years without any problems.
I think "cost" is still a consideration for many. If not, then one will just do a custom OEM installations costing upwards of $5k+. I think the LED bulbs similar to the ones I used are the way to go.
BTW, maybe we should start a survey and see if anyone out there had a bad experience with the same LED bulbs I had used? I have not heard any. I'm sure they are out there......
Also look at it this way, the newer lowly Toyota Corolla has LED headlights as standard. I wonder what LED bulbs the Corolla use?
