Default Hybrid inverter Failure at ~60K Miles

Got the "hybrid system failure" warning in the car and took it to the dealer. After looking it over they are telling me that the hybrid inverter was damaged possible by road debris or a rock and it will be $1100 to fix and replace. Whats the likelyhood that it did get damaged by something hitting it if its in the engine bay with plastic covering all underneath the car? I feel like maybe it actually just failed and the dealership doesn't want to replace under warranty. Any thoughts?

Update, nevermind, dealer said it was actually the radiator to the inverter that got hit by a rock and started leaking fluid and needs to be replaced.

At 60k Miles, are you still under the hybrid warranty?
