It's all speculation at this point I assume. I wonder much impact this would have on the efficiency front. I read Lexus tested 2.4lt on a l as well as talks about placing HS engine in the car but ES2.5l is news. 2.4lt was reported to get ~32mpg on a good day. If the new one lowers MPG in exchange for HP I would pass but if it can offer better MPG as well as HP than I may have to sell my new CT I bought a week ago...

That article is old news. It was speculation starting back in May 2011. i don't think Lexus will focus too much energy on making the CT more powerful at this time. It's positioned in the Lexus lineup to be fuel efficient vs. performance oriented. They're still pushing heavily on getting the ESh and GSh out and won't risk having the CT with a larger hybrid powertrain pull sales from the soon to be released ESh and GSh models.

It certainly would make sense call it a 300h. My thought is would it fit. Would it screw with the overall balance of the car.
The newer hybrid engines are starting to push the envelope. I'm not convinced it fits. But 200hp would be fun and it certainly would not compete with the other hybrids Lexus makes seeing the body style is soo different and unique to Lexus.
Keep a good price point - might be another issue. I doubt they do it for a least a couple more model yrs. They usually update every four or so years , depending .......

How can ES being such a more bigger car then CT still have 40mpg with bigger engine too??? Does that mean if CT gets the same engine, it will have even better mpg?

A8 3.0T V6 18/28 333hp
A8 4.2 V8 18/28 372hp
Despite it being a smaller "more efficient" engine, the V6 has to work much harder than the V8.
The same argument can be made of the Prius C with its 1.5L I4 vs the regular Prius/CT with the 1.8L I4. The engine is much more strained thus will not achieve better fuel economy than its larger counterpart
