I brought it up and stand by it... the veloster averages 30 ish from the results I have read and gets more if you are mostly on the HWY. (38 HWY)

WHO HERE WOULDN'T KILL TO GET ANOTHER 70 HP OUT OF THEIR CT if it only cost them a few MPG??

The A3 T.D. gets you both...

If you like driving, both give a better experience.

(most all cars handle well if you cant get the little fker up to speed)
The CT is also a sub-compact. Makes my EX feel big and my RX feel Huge.

if it was all about MPG, everyone would be on a motorcycle or a bike.... You feel the same as I do about the CT... boring sr citizen car. Give it some HP so I would be interested in trading it for MY WIFE's RX.
The EX is way to fun to drive. Would never trade the CT for that.

Guys, I know this is totally on the opposite realm since price wise it's like triple the price of a CT but go drive a Porsche Panamera Hybrid and you will be a true believer of a hybrid with performance. I drove one for a road trip and was amazed by the car. I would say it's no slower than the IS-F in comparison from a Lexus vehicle standpoint.

It's shockingly fast with a 13.8 quarter mile and still gets 30mpg on highway. Beats out the Caddy CTS-V 552 hp wagon around the track and drives like what you would expect of a Porsche. And at only a 6% premium over the regular V8 hybrid, they don't charge a crazy premium for the extra mpg

I still think the CT-200h in the $30k price range is an un-beatable value

I would never get out of that Panamera. Wow - it is just beautiful in every sense.

I also agree that the Lexus is a good value. I just want a wee bit more excitement, HP and tourque.

Go read fuelly , I know my sister owns the Sonata turbo and she doesn't see anywhere near 30 all around either. The none turbo version touches 30mpg. 43-44mpg is a 1/4 more over time that adds up big time as gas hits 4-5.00 a gallon.
I spoke to kid the other day at the casino here he was looking at my CT and said nice car he happened to drive the Veloster Turbo - RED.....he said he gets 25-26mpg all around. Then laughed and said when he isn't pushing it. I never even saw his car till he mentioned it.

I never believe Hyundai mileage......they got caught lying. Toyota has always been spot on even before the EPA changed the mileage numbers.

If anything on fuelly people want the car to get BETTER mileage , not worse.

I took my 700whp+ Supra out yesterday ....I'm sure a Veloster could have beaten my car down. I stay away from them. lol That car turns heads.....and draws attention. I actually get embarassed.

my point is that it needs more power and I would sacrifice some MPG for a more fun to drive CT...

I've got about 1200 miles on my CT. Have been averaging right around 47 mpg driving mostly in ECO mode in stop and go Atlanta traffic. Going on a trip tomorrow and not taking the CT (too many people), so just for fun drove home in Sport mode. Super big grin on my face all the way home. I got plenty o' power.

Hi all, I have just purchased a used 2011 CT200h to sit alongside my 2008 RX350.

Does the CT200h feel underpowered? Yes indeed.

Is it really underpowered? No! I did a quick test against my 2008 RX350 and I was stunned; in the red-light drag race to 60kmh there was barely a bonnet length in it.

I feel that the constant push of power from the combination of electric and petrol motors does not give you the "smack in the head" that a gearshift does, but it keeps accelerating at the same rate. Sure it would be more fun with more grunt but I am more than happy with it as is.

There are 2 things that would interest me in a CT. CT300h or CT200t.

Actually, there are 3. My girlfriend asking for one.

I agree. I would be very interested in a CT200t or a CT 300h...most likely and hopefully Lexus will expand the CT line in it's second generation...

Yeah, I floored my CT this morning from a stop and it really is underpowered. There is no power at all on the get go but passing power is okay. They should put the Camry hybrid engine on this car.

The Prius is even worse though, same engine but bigger and heavier body.

Didn't you test drive it......mine has gotten better about 10,000 mile mark it started feeling better- broken in.
I bought mine knowing full well it lacked oomph....most cars that get a consistent 44mpg are lacking. Mine handles excellent and the power is sufficient but I grew up with some seriously weak 4cylinders from the 60'-70's and 80's......this one is a power house. Ever drive a 1970 Opel Cadet.....yeah didn't think so.
We lived on a big hill and you almost had to get out and push by the long part of it. Down shift into 2nd gear by the top of the hill.....it went GREAT down the hill.

I do think they could make another version using the 2.0l Turbo. CT200t - 250hp and make it tuner friendly. I luv my CT -

Yes, it is underpowered but it is a lot more driveable than Prius. CT200h got superior suspension, and is equipped with low profile tires. The lateral shock brace mounted across the MacPherson towers does an incredible job in giving lateral support as you enter a curve. Changed to aftermarket Michelin Primacy MXM4 and you will find it softer and grips the asphalt much better than OEM Michelins. Making few minor improvements will help a lot: installed dry sythentic air filter, changed Nippondenso spark (ND SC20HR11 laser iridium) @ 50K miles, etc.. I am getting consistently 50.4 mpg (temperature dependent: yes here in sunshine FL but NOT in frigid NJ) and able to maintain cruising speed of 60-65 mph. Initial acceleration from 0-40 mph is lethargic, but from 45-65 mph is acceptable. PS: A/C use does not affect mpg, as matter of fact driving with windows/sun roof closed reduces drag.
