Gas Tank Size

I think you're exaggerating there Timmy. My light has never come on since I've owned my car and I have put as much as 8.5 gallons of gas in my tank and have gone as far as 390 miles on a tank, without the light ever coming on.

I'll take a picture the next time it happens. But just to give you an idea, I'm getting exactly 44 mpg according to the display. I'm at 120 miles and have a little above a half of tank left. My last tank I got 380 miles but I was way below the E when I filled up. If I'm the only one that's having this problem then that will be great because I'll just take it in and have them fix it.

Had the very same problem
Does anyone have any insights into the actual gas tank size?
I've had my CT for @ 3 months. Everytime I fill up, I generally put in @ 2.25 gallons per every 1/4 tank empty (ie if gauge reads 1/2 tank, I put in @ 4.5 gallons) always utilizing same filling method (2 clicks). With those numbers, for a empty tank I would probably put in about 9 gallons...the tank, per owners manual and specifications on web say the tank is 11.9 gallons. To further confuse things, when I look at cruising range based on gas left and avg mpg, the numbers don't work out to having 11.9 gallons. Can anyopne explain wy this is so? Are the extra gallons the reserve which is not measured by the gas gauge??

The problem is that it significantly reduces the range of the car down to 350 kms before the tank light goes on.
I do hope they will fix the problem.

Pole Position
I am a Toyota/Lexus certified technician and it sounds like you need to go back to the dealer than. Other owners don't seem to have quite as extreme as your case. Take it back and have em look at it!

I average 45-46 mpg and can easily go 500 miles on a full tank and still have about a gallon left in the tank at fill up. I think they have set the fuel reserve on this car way too conservative, considering it averages over 40 mpg. Other Lexus averaging 20 mpg with a 2 gallon reserve are only going to have 40 miles left on the tank, so why make this model have 80 plus miles. I would rather be able to drive 5 days before having to fill up instead of after 4 days just for convenience even though it is going to cost me the same for gas in the end.

This is realy starting to bother me. I know I'm getting way better mileage than my Highlander Hybrid I traded for the CT, but it just doesnt feel that great since I'm filling up just as often.

I'm not sure why people are so bothered by this, yes, it doesn't make sense, but they also don't charge a surcharge at the pump each time you fill it/visit. I'm VERY happy that Lexus came out with a car as stylish as this with such awesome mileage!

The car is awesome that goes without saying BUT...
This tank deal is bothering me I think more than most people. I can't even deliver a valid argument as to why. What I can say is if it were an option to have an 11.9 gallon tank (and GAUGE) with a .5 gallon reserve (as opposed to our 11.9 gallon tank equipped with a 9 gallon gauge) I would absolutely pay several thousand for it.
I really do wonder how hard it would be for any reputable Toyota specialist to recalibrate the fuel sensor..

To Dkidwell and Jimmy, I'm bothered because when you spend 30,000+ on a car you should expect for everything to work right no matter how "nice it looks."

I can fill up every 4 days after a normal work week commute with the CT, but going every 4 days with my last car was a stretch and risked the light coming on, so I was filling up every 3 days with my last car.
Just out of curiousity, what prior cars have you guys been driving?
