I dont know my unit has the latest software but when i plug in my iPhone i never get the error showing its not compatible. But on occasions( about twice now) it has shown that error message on my phone. The solution was to unplug it and replug it in and it was gone. Keep in mind, my unit is roughly a 1.5-2 years old.
