The group buy is just good for the VML without hard drive or cable. If you upgrade the VML to include a hd cable or hd then you can't get the group buy discount (and it's was only $10 anyhow).

Give us a call, we'll take $10 off the VML with HDD cable.

I believe we have communicated via email, correct?

They said it's the best they can do. You are more then welcome to place an order from either one of us, whichever makes it more beneficial to you.

I ended up buying from the Canadian distributor and installed the unit myself last week. Is there any way in MD-Force3 mode to show Artist Name on the top line? The top line always shows the playlist name, and only the bottom line can be switched between Artist, Album, OR Track Title using the DISC RAND button.

Also, on page 20 of the SL2Vi manual (July 7, 2008), the text below the bottom right picture says "Song Title, Artist Name, or Album Name (See DISC SCAN function). Is this a typo? Page 21 doesn't say anything about DISC SCAN affecting the track text.

Thanks for your business!

Unfortunately top line of the display can only display the playlist information.

DISC RND button will toggle in between song title, album name and artist name in the second line of the display. First line stays the same - displaying the playlist info.

You can pretty much get what you want displayed. You just have to name your Playlist to get it. I name each Playlist as "Artist - Album name". This allows SL3Vi to display that info on the first line. The name of each song is then displayed on the 2nd line.

Note that iTunes playlist are listed alphabetically. For convenience of playing more recently acquired music, I name those as "1 -artist name", "2 -artist name", etc. iTunes then puts those in order and above the alphabetical list by names.

This allows me to list a number of albums (5 or so) as numbers 1-5 in the playlist. They are easily found at the top of the list and grouped together (necessary when you have 50 or 60 albums in you iPod and want to find your new music). This is the equivalent of having CDs in your changer, except this way you also get the name of each song and dont have to actually have the CD in the car (also you might not have acquired the music by hard CD).

This works for me.
