VaisTech--I purchased a different brand of IPOD integration unit, and installed it in my GF's 2004 RX330 with Nav and In Dash CD Changer. The OTHER company stated that there should not be a connector in the port for the IPOD unit, because there is no external CD changer. Well, in fact, there was something plugged in that thierd port, with 2 or 3 wires coming from it. I figured it was some sort of jumper for the lack of external cd changer. Well, with out the 3rd connector plugged in, the HVAC and NAV don't work at all. THe other unit has a Y cable/Pass through, which I plugged in. Voila, the HVAC and NAV then worked, BRIEFLY. Every so often, the IPOD unit "crashes" and stops controlling the IPOD, text does not show up, there is no control of the IPOD, and the HVAC and NAV die again.
I contacted the vendor, and they sent me a different firmware of the unit, and it happens again and again.
So, I am gonna return it, and I want to get the SLI, but I am a little gunshy. I am worried that I will have the same issues with the SLI unit. Can you confirm for me that the SLI will work with the 2004 RX330 with NAV and In Dash CD changer? Keep in mind that the 3rd plug appears to be required to maintain the HVAC and NAV operation?
Also, I would be using the unit with a 5.5 firmware IPOD if that matters.
