Default Now Taking Orders!! FIGS Ohlins Road and Track Coilover/Coilover conversion RC-F




We have completed testing and can now accept orders.
Based on our 3 yr development on the IS-F application and our 25hr racing experience with the rear suspension geometry of the 3rd gen IS we will be adapting our solutions to meet the needs of the RC-F market.

The solution will features:
- Front and rear single-adjust dampers with both preload adjustment and adjustable collars for ride height. We feel we will be able to address the widest range of ride heights from the existing offerings available.
-Road and Track dampers feature DFV (dual flow valves) for both spirited driving and daily comfort and are completely serviceable-rebuildable.
-Coilover assemblies feature rubber damped upper hat mounts and lower mounts to provide an OE-like experience.
-Swift Springs - Configured to customer end use. Assist and helper configurations as well.
-damping extension adjustment for the rear so that you can reinstall your trunk liner and still make adjustments to the shock damping.
-2yr warranty against defects
-OE upper hats can be reused or we can provide machined aluminum versions with rubber bushings for additional cost.
-options to use our rear lower control arm replacement which should save weight over the factory arm given the spring perch/pocket no longer be used. It is adjustable as well for suspension geometry change when lowered.

Caveat:
-certain aggressive wheel fitments may not be possible (x12 wheels with positive large offsets and wider tires) due to spring interference. We will be working on an alternate version for these cases.

Dampers will get hot. That’s one thing that you can be sure of. As the piston moves within the damper, it generates friction – and therefore, heat. Although we can’t stop heat, we can deal with it, and this is yet another way that Öhlins differs from the competition. As the heat increases, the viscosity of the damper fluid can change, altering the car’s handling characteristics. Our unique needle bleed valve expands with temperature, closing the gap that the fluid travels through, maintaining a consistent damping rate. The best thing of all? You won’t even notice! All you’ll feel is that the car responds consistently, lap after lap, turn after turn. Allowing you to concentrate on braking points and apexes whilst the Öhlins technology takes care of the damping.

Thought I would post up an update. We have the shocks in house and have assembled up our first set. We plan on testing the first week of Jan if the weather holds up. I also wanted to stress the fact that we are delivering these with a 2 year warranty and that we also include the rear damping adjustment extensions to allow the trunk liner to remain intact while making adjustments.

And just to add further input on this product compared to others and recent misrepresented posts by our competition:

-These are 100% made in Japan to Ohlins specs. Most parts are made in Sweden but all parts conform to the Ohlins standards of manufacturing.
-We use assist springs on the rear with an isolated spring cap for misalignment. The front has such a small amount of misalignment relative to travel they are not necessary as the shock hat and control arm mount are aligned properly.
-The shock internal shims that are used are the same as those used in TTX products because we have them completely revalved and dynoed at Ohlins USA to our spec.
-High-speed damping is all taken care of in the shim stack for the chosen springs which simplifies car setup. A single **** adjusts your proportional rebound and compression for low-speed motion.
-The shock bodies, seals and piston plating are designed for road use that means salt spray testing, crack-free chrome plating, and thermal compensation etc to handle road conditions, which are vastly different standards that track conditions.
-They leverage Ohlins proprietary technology in the Dual-Flow valve but the TTX shocks are actually a twin tube design to control the compression and rebound fluid paths independently. This means the same Ohlins internal shock oil and technology is applied to this product line even though its technically a lower tier offering that the TTX race shocks.
-Race shocks are not always desireable. They require more maintenance, have yearly rebuild requirements and are not designed for the environment a road car sees. They also offer tuning that is largely unnecessary for a daily driven car and might get you into trouble if you don't know how to adjust them.Personally we have rebuilt our Penske shocks once per the requirement and try to maintain the gas pressure as frequently as we can. They are good shocks and our preference for a track tuned car, but the Ohlins build quality and road spec is a better choice for a long term worry-free upgrade that will match the OE.

Due to a few little delays on parts from Sweden over the holiday we were set back a little bit and testing is set for next week.

Rebuild schedule is based on usage and temperature, higher temps will necessitate more frequent oil changes. Rebuilds would be as needed to maintain performance or I would suggest oil changes every 4-5 years. If you just run the track than a yearly fluid change would not be a bad idea, but it depends on how many events and how long you run them at each stint.
Typically in the $120 per shock range for a standard rebuild and they can be done local to you or through OhlinsUSA or we can also do it. It will likely just depend on the bandwidth of the shop as the turnaround time.

Testing is complete and with great results. Significantly reduced body roll, enhanced steering input and elimination of understeer as well as completely silent operation. We also did ride height adjustment with corner weighing and have good guidance data on setups for individual customers. We an offer the widest ride height adjustment range from above stock to 2.5-3" drop if desired. Basically we can nearly bottom out the wheels into the wheel wells but we do not suggest driving at the height. Many jounce and spring rate options will be available as well. Our setup will offer either factory hat reuse or machined upper hats. We are now taking orders, 3 week build time. We will list these on our site with options by next week.

Listing is up on the site. It is priced very aggressively relative to our costs. Just like with our other setups, we try to use as many components from Ohlins as possible to maintain the quality and function. The top spring caps added significant cost but also allowed a short spring which saved weight. Rubber spring seats and thrust sheets also included. Bumpstop shims are available for customer bump tuning. If you have any questions please let me know.
