Need amateur mechanic for DIY on GS430 in Los Angeles
Hi All,
I tried to post in Classifieds but it wouldn't let me. I'd like to hire an amateur mechanic who works on 2nd-gen GS for hourly fee in Los Angeles area. I love my 2001 GS430, and it needs DIY fixes for:
1) Door actuator motors - all four.
2) AC mix servo failing - drivers side.
3) Add an Aux input for factory head unit
4) Speakers on drivers side are flaky, sound goes on and off
And some others.
I know that DIY means Do-It-Yourself but I'm hoping to hire somebody else who is much better with cars than I am. I love ClubLexus and it is such a helpful website. Send me a PM if you are interested.
Best Regards,
Joe in Los Angeles

Thanks Nelson, good point that I should list my neighborhood. I'm in Valley Glen, which is next to Sherman Oaks, but I'm willing to travel and drop my car off.
I have a great Lexus mechanic, but I'm looking for a CL member who wants to perform DIY fixes from these forums for a lucrative hourly rate. For example, my door actuators would cost $1600 to purchase and install if I went to my mechanic, even more expensive from the dealer, But for $20 in parts the actuator motors for all four doors can be replaced manually, I already bought the parts based on the CL forum posts for my 2GS. Similar story for fixing my AC servo motor.
Hoping somebody in the LA area is interested!

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the advice. I'll check out Tommy in El Monte for the audio stuff and search the threads here on CL. I live by Valley College, hopefully you had a good experience there. Still hoping somebody in LA wants to make around $40 an hour doing DIY work on door actuators and AC air mix servo fixing and others. Have a great evening!
