There is a local meet already happening every Thursday night 5 miles south of there at the In and Out, Location is El Toro and the 5 freeway. There is between 30-100 cars every time. Some GOOD and some BAD. No cop problems at all since the area only has sheriffs who mind their own business.
For almost every meet we have had in the Irvine area get broken up by Irvine police. They don't want any loitering even if you patronize a business nearby. They see meets like a unlawful gathering.

Irvine is full of ***** man. You park your ride on the side of the street, neighborhood folks will call the cops on you.

Nevertheless, I helped organize a BMW meet of 20-30 in a remote area of the Irvine Spectrum lot a few years ago. No problems, no cops. I guess because we were mostly grown guys, not youngins with stereos blarin'.

I recently was going to a euro meet at the spectrum with no one being stupid. The police and security said the new policy is no group meets of any kind there. I told them 30 of my friends are meeting for dinner at pf changs and they said we do not care. So a big no-go for the spectrum...
I am down to go to this new spot till 9 then I will roll over to the regular meet at in and out.

If I recall correctly, there's a private lot across the street from the Irvine Spectrum Cheesecake Factory valet cul-de-sac. Lots of spaces available.
