When these come up, I think of this during the week: "this is about 50% of what our restaurant is capable of since all the tourists came in to try the specials. The meal sucks and service is spotty but we're really quite good when you pay full price" impression.
Reminds me of OC restaurant week. One of our usual places was participating and the menu sounded good. We asked the server about the selection and he gave us a sour face..."that's for tourists. You want something good, leave it to me." LOL
