Default Where my plates at?!

It's been a little over 2 months since I bought my CPO car. Usually, the plates come within 4-8 weeks and they haven't arrived yet.

And today, I was cleaning the trunk just to find 1 clean license plate under the trunk carpet, which looks unused. Should I call and see what's up?

If you bought it CPO in CA, usually it will come with plates already on it.
I would call the dealership and double check. It's possible they just forgot to put it back on

It can take time to receive plates from DMV. Call and set-up an appointment, your temporary paperwork will hold you over. My neighbor didn't get his plates till about 12 weeks later. As Murphy goes, you'll call to get this sorted out and the next day they arrive.

Having bought many used cars, I know that if your car already has plates included with it, like the clean unused one you found, then they won't send you new plates. Many times, they just stick the dealer paper plates over the existing plate so you might want to check there if you haven't already. But if you want a new set of plates, you can bypass the DMV and go to your local AAA office if you are an AAA member. They will issue you brand new plates the same day along with a new registration card and stickers. The DMV can also give you new plates the same day, but of course you'll have to deal with the lines and such there.

If you purchased it a few months ago, it could just be a delay. I remember not getting my plates for close to three months after I purchased my F. Enjoy being plate-free for the time being. People will think it's still new lol.

Is it only me or do I not want people to know that the car is new? Haha
Well, I found out that the other plate has been hiding on the front bumper under the dealer paper plate!
Now I guess I'd have to wait for the registration stickers to arrive?

Just as I said.. lol And yes, your stickers and new registration paper should arrive in the mail. If not, give your local dmv a ring.

I purchased a CPO that already came with plates. A week later, I got brand new plates from the DMV. Should look into it.

WOW.

So I mentioned that I found the other plate hiding under the front dealer plate. I unscrewed the frame just to find a plate that's NOT matching with the other one I found under the trunk carpet! Obviously, I assumed the front plates would be the same as the one I already found but I just had to double-check and lo and behold... wow. This is just getting more confusing. Talking to the DMV rep of the dealership via e-mail but thinking of just calling her tomorrow because this can't get any more confusing.

Thanks everyone for the help!

LOL, I've been driving my used go cart w/ expired sticker, but paid for reg, still waitinig for the good sticker 8 weeks later. Have been followed by coppers, but everyone is leaving me alone. I called DMV, they said plates are paid for and the new sticker is on the way. Ha ha, yes, the us snail mail. Hope it doesn't get lost.

Talking about plates, do any of you (or know anyone) who carries around one of those "vanity" plates on the front bumper?

I'm thinking of getting a custom Japanese plate and replace the front plate. I know my neighbor drives around a 5 series BMW with European front plates.
