Epic drives
I did this just last week. From LA to Ojai to San Luis Obispo to Monterey via PCH through Big Sur. It was so much fun. Anyone else have an epic drive road trip that they enjoyed? I want to plan my next big trip.

I did that trip on a motorcycle. Lots of little detours into very curvy hillsides along the way.
Well worth the *** soreness from riding 10+ hours.
Pashnit.com is a great tool for California backroads.
Mostly motorcycle oriented, but taking a little canyon carver car also would make a fun trip.
Also, do a little Google Map search of the Giant Sequoia National Park. It's two hours away from L.A, but you go through some beautiful mountain roads. It's a great weekday escape.

We' done the coast highway run when I was a kid. I've done portions of it in later years around SF but only day trips out a bit and back.
One of the enjoyable drives was in central-southern Oregon and coastal regions. We'd done the covered bridges drives so there was some very pretty scenery along with curvy and flat roads. Not as much fun in a rental Mazda 3 back then.
