Just got back from Grand Canyon over the long weekend, got a chance to hike the famous Bright Angel trailhead to Phantom Ranch about 24 miles round trip in one day. i NEVER need any reservation , so always stay in 1st come and 1st serve places. This is Desert View , about 25 miles from the Main entrance ( south Rim). here are some pictures The hiking probably rank of my top 5 of the toughest hike because the very extreme heat, the sand winds, and the heavy rain and lightning strikes, flood.
