the first part up without the lift isn't hard - its just boooooring switchbacks thats right underneath the lift to the lodge. Most people who do the hike in the winter take the lift to the lodge and begin their ascent from there. I've done it both ways. Winter time is A LOT more rewarding!

Was 38 degree on the summit but the windchill like 34 and lower on the way down got much warmer, always bring extra warm clothes lolz.. At the base around 40 degree 530am.
