Hi SoCal members,
I just got an 08 IS350 and I'm looking for a shop in OC that can install coilovers and a rear camber kit.
I got a quote from a local repair shop and they estimated $510 for the labor which seems kind of high so I want to shop around. That quote does include an alignment. Since it was over the phone, they said the actual cost may differ once I bring all my stuff in for them to look at.
I saw a few other threads that were a couple years old so just wondering if there are any other shops that you would recommend.

I called him too and he said he could do them but didn't recommend it. Maybe cuz I am a girl? Hahaha. I don't know why but I am having second thoughts about the whole thing...
I trust all the positive recommendations for Tommy here so I may just have him do the coilovers first and figure out the camber kit later. My husband is looking for rims for me so I don't know if any of my settings will need to change later.

He just said that many people end up going back to stock suspension after a while because they didn't like the ride.
I have to admit that I am a little hesitant to install the coilovers because I don't want a harsh ride. I want it to be just a little stiffer than stock. My husband is promising that the dampener will allow me to adjust it. What do you guys think? As you can see, I have no idea what I'm getting myself into.

Most people end up staying on coils until they sell their car, then they go back to stock suspension. Those who don't like the ride generally move onto the next coil.
The ride quality will depend on many things. What coilovers do you have? The damper ***** will only change the stiffness to a degree, but it's not a magical **** that will allow you to turn your car from a stock ride to a Nascar, and vice versa. So depending on the coilovers, you can set the **** to full soft and it can still break your back. On the other hand, there are coils that ride soft even if the **** is set to full stiff. The damper **** is one of the most overused, and misunderstood part of the coilover

Megan LPs...are those going to break my back?
I got the F Sport rear sway bar put on last week and I really like the improved handling. Hope I'm using the correct terminology haha...I was never interested in modding my car before but this one is so fun to drive. I can't wait to see how much better it can get. Thanks for the reassurance.

The Megan LP's spring rates are kind of stiff. The EZ-model has softer spring rate, but stiffer than stock so those are probably a better option. You should have asked around for a ride before you bought the coils because I know for a fact that there are A LOT of IS owners with Megan coils in Socal. I'm sure they would have let you ride in their cars. Still, you'll find many owners who say their Megans can ride soft and some will stay it's quite stiffer. It's all relative.

OMG I'm such a newb. I just recently found CL after I bought my IS. I guess I should have done more research on this...was being lazy and just agreed with what my husband suggested.
Now that I think about it, his car is really bumpy and I don't like it! He claims that it's because of his tires...hmm, so what's going to going to happen when I get new wheels?
