The detectives was able to match the rims with my previous pictures when I purchased the rims. They used identifialable marks, as well as the reciepts that I had. For example, you took a picture 2 years ago of your rims. They had a scratch of chip on the picture 2 years ago, this is a big factor in providing proof, almost like a fingerprint. The detective did say, that people should start stamping or marking their rims with pictures, just in case they get stolen in the future.
