interesting. what version of windows 7 are they giving away for free? and will it be 32-bit or 64-bit? and where is the beach auditorium? CSULB?
btw, current university students with access to Microsoft's Developer's Network Academic Alliance (MSDN AA) can download free Microsoft software including operating systems. participation varies by school, so check w/ your university regarding participation.

there are many other ways to get your hands on windows 7 if you're a current university student w/ a valid .edu address.
good find nonetheless.

most universities have MSDNAA accounts already. i believe you just need to receive authorization from the schools to participate in the MSDN AA, but program participation requirements vary by school.
also, for students w/ a valid .edu email, you can buy a windows 7 upgrade here:
http://windows7.digitalriver.com
the link allows you to purchase a windows 7 home premium edition upgrade (not full), but if you get the confirmation email and click the link next to this:
Need to join your school’s network domain? You can also get Windows 7 Professional for $29.99
