This is what makes me want a camera or two running 24/7 in my car.
Not only would it help catch theives but to catch cops when they pull you over for BS reasons like being profiled as a street racer while sitting in PCH traffic.

Alright Joel, from what I understand...
The value of the goods stolen is less than $400 therefore its considered a petty theft, a misdemeanor. Its a misdemeanor committed not in the officer's presence therefore the crime did or did not occur, so they will need to investigate further. I'm assuming the officer took a theft report. That report will eventually move up the chain of command and it will end up on a desk of a detective. The detective asigned to your case usually handles all of the crime in that area so he/she is usually pretty busy with other stuff (sometimes more important cases). The detective will then determine if there is sufficient evidence to start investigating, etc.
Now I dont know how El Monte PD works, but thats usually how it goes.
Since you have the plate number down(plate number = home address, name of possible suspect, etc), it makes it easier for the detective to investigate vs. starting from nothing and generating his own leads. Give it a couple of weeks and you should be fine.
I'll let you know if I see anything.

Any luck on this stuff?
Keep checking CG. It is pretty pathetic that people are resorting to this kinda stuff. I can't believe with the plate number they won't track them down!!!

I said the 2 wheels were 700+ new and other information. The officer said they were sending a officer that same night to his/her house but still no news. I talked to 2 other officers today and someone on the phone about it and they said it was processed but no one is assigned to it yet. etc.. I believe I just found a way to get the address but I will wait a little more to see if the cops do anything or else I would have to do something myself.

On Bimmerforums there was a similar case where they stole
an Item, the guy caught a glimpse of the car, and plates.
I think they did track him down. So I know there is people out there that can help.
Sucks when someone violates your property and your unable to do something
about it. Good Luck to you Mate

Still no news yet... -_- anyway to faster the process? I don't want these damn thieves running around... The cops could of just went to the house the same day and arrested them... now who knows wth they are doing. My rims could be long gone now the way they are trying to handle it...

I got my old drift car stripped in front of my parent's house. I hate thieves that's why I installed closed loop cameras in my parent's house. I would also try Craigslist. Idiots think they can get away...Nothing will satisfy you better than catch these idiots. I will keep an eye out for you as well.
