Thumbs up Recommended Shop: Vinam in Midway City

Recently, my car hit 190,000 miles and I needed a major 90k service. My major, I mean I needed the whole 9 yards.

I needed plugs, wires, caps & rotors, timing belt, water pump, radiator flush, hoses, valve cover gaskets, cam and crank seals, fuel filter, throttle bottle service, motor, transmission and differential oil change.

I have been a patron of Vinam for simple stuff such as oil changes before but nothing big until now. I dropped the car off late Friday evening and picked it up Sunday afternoon as promised.

His price was unbeatable and he knows his stuff especially with 1st and 2nd Lexus vehicles and other guys on here can vouch for the shop as well since I was referred by Chrispy & and some others.

At the first glance, one would say that the shop is messy and dirty but you can't judge a book by its cover. So if you guys need any service done, don't hesitate to drop by to get a quote and say that Jerry with the red SC referred you!

I can vouch for him also. His quotes are usually lower than most shops and he does it in a quick and timely manner. This guy is really **** about fixing things and he's not satisfied until his customers are. Recently he rebuilt a Honda civic engine and somehow the radiator of the car blew a week later (OEM radiator that was already mistreated by the previous owner), but he replaced the radiator for free because he knows customer service is king.

Any SC owners who has the typical rear main seal leak should go to him. Not to mention he does polyurethane bushing installs at an unbelievable price.

I don't think he is going to appreciate you advertising that. He didn't seem happy about fixing mine, but then again he did it by himself at like 3AM.

His pricing and the fact that he has a modified 2nd gen GS makes his shop a hidden gem of our SoCal community.

Just keep in mind that its a 2 man operation (his retired dad helps him out) so scheduling ahead for big jobs should be considered

Speaking of rear main seals, thats the only seal that I know of that still has a minor leak. I wonder how long of a job is it to drop the tranny for that?

He did it by himself on my car in 5 hours, but that was with no one disturbing him since he opened the shop after hours to work on my car.

He did my Daizen control arm bushings a while ago. His price was very reasonable and he stayed until 11pm just to finish my car. I would highly recommend him for any service on a 2GS since he owns one and he knows the car inside and out.

His shop may not look all that nice, but he will take care of you and your car very well.

i can vouch for this place as well. his price is way lower than other shop, even my friend shop can't match his price. don't judge Vinam by the shop look he even clean my MAF for free.

I'll be back to vinam for ES service soon

Unfortunately no. This is why the shop doesn't look as pretty right now because he's in the process of saving up money to get an alignment rack, plus he needs to find a way to lease out the building next to him.

Thanks guys for the the info. Gotta do the Daizen control arm bushings soon. How long is this installation anyway? Drop the car off early and pick up around closing?

Chris
