has anyone had bad experience with LAX handling your luggage?
hi all, just got back from my trip to soCal and everything was perfect until my gf found out she was missing her GPS device, Juicy Couture Shades, and half of her souvenirs from her check-in luggage. Our flight leaving LAX was delayed 45min, could the baggage people have just ransacked through her luggage and stole her goods? Has this ever happened before and what are the chances of her getting reimbursed for her loss? Also, her baggage was cleared through the X-ray machine because she received a blue TSA stamp on her luggage tag and shouldnt that mean they were not supposed to go through her bag?

Actually, most bags are physically searched beyond the x-ray machine (that's why they ask you to use TSA-approved locks). It is possible that items were misplaced, taken, moved, or stolen.
If some of your stuff is missing, you can file a compliant. However, I don't know about the process of proving things you had that is no longer in your bag. That's going to be very tough to prove.

Sometimes x-rays aren't clear enough to identify 'suspicious' goods in your luggage. If you ever fly international from LAX, you will see the TSA physically hand-check your bags. I wouldn't see it any different for domestic flights.

Unfortunately, yea they do. I have a friend that I used to go to grade school with that works Terminal 4,5,6 at LAX. TSA certification is weak sauce, very easy. He's not a criminal, but I wouldnt call him a grade A citizen either. I hear stories from him that I cant even disclose.
