New cars you don't have to smog the first few years. I forget how many exact years. After the certain amount of years pass, smog is every other year.
vwynn - If your car is stock then you should have no issue passing smog unless something is not tuned correctly. Your cone filter and exhaust mod should be ok as long as the cats are still there.

Thanks for the replies.
i heard there was a visual check as well to see if everything is untouched?
one reason why im asking about smog is because my dad was all over my back about the "mods" ive done to the car..
heres a pic of my exhaust for the peeps that dont know what it looks like.
hmm.. straight pipe but with Cats (all pre cat + Main center cats) its a sc400 btw
o yea is there a sound test as well? cuz im pretty sure i might not pass that.

CA has probably the most strict smog regulations than anywhere else in the US. New cars don't get smogged for the first 6yrs I believe, unless you change ownership.

You may not pass the visual inspection without a C.A.R.B sticker for the intake. I have failed cars with an intake without those stickers. However, every tester is different. I know some intakes dont really affect emissons, I just like to cover my assets. I dont want to get fined $$$$. Like everyone else, as long as the cats are there you should not have a problem. Sound db is not a test when smogging. hope this helps.

well i dont know if its considered an intake but this is what i was talkin about.
just a cane filter After the Mass airflow sensor. no mods to any of the other tubings. just removed the box and routed a AC duct to guide the incoming air to the filter. n yea thats about it.
maybe my dad was just scaring me since i tinkered with it.

Remove the filter and put back the stock box. If the smog guy is really really cool, he'll let you off. But if he is doing his job correctly, you will not pass based on visual inspection.
They dont do a sound test. They smog at 15mph and 25mph. I doubt your car will need to rev that high for those speeds.
