Downtown Disney and Universal Studios can get crazy. Great fireworks, but also tons of people and pretty pricey. Knott's is more low key and less hasslesome.
Shorline Village in Long Beach can get busy, but you see fireworks above the Queen Mary after having dinner. Not as enclosed as Disney or Universal Studios.
Personally, the best party is a house party. Don't drink and drive though: get a taxi or designated driver...

ya need to drive around a large university and find a sorority that is throwing a wild party. Asides from the stank of alcohol, drunk college girls are fun to hang out with. An alternative would be the beach.... Yes there will be lotsa people but there is also lotsa space to spread out. Definitely bring your glock and ski mask in case things get out of control.

Well...the cops are going to be out in full force. So if you're driving, be careful. Not so much about the cops, but about the drunk drivers/accidents. This happens every year...
And seeing as everyone will be celebrating the New Year...this is an excellent opportunity for thieves.
Personally, I would stay home or at a friend's house. Not a huge house party.
