Question Fill tank while Tanker Turck is present?

Fill tank while Tanker Turck is present?

I pulled upto the gas station last night.
I wanted to fill the tank but noticed a tanker truck was filling the underground tanks.

I decided not to fill the car, but waited till morning.

Can you fill your car's tank while the tanker is filling the underground tanks?

I head that during the filling process, the dirt, water (moisture) and other debris is stirred up and it can get in your car's tank and clog your fuel filter.

Other people have told me not to worry, all current gas pumps have a filter to clean the gas in case there is any dirt or debris is in the underground tanks.

What is the right thing to do?

II have put gas while a tank truck was refilling. This is the first time I hear about this. My car drives fine. I’ve also never noticed anything different after filling up.
Well, I hope we can get someone with knowledge on this.

Rule of thumb, when you see a tanker at the gas station filling up the tanks...wait at least an hour before you go back there to fill. You do not want to fill up your tank while a tanker is filling the big tanks up. Sediment and buildup are at the bottom and are stirred around. Even despite the fact they have filters at the gas pumps, it's better safe than sorry.

I was even told this by a Chevron fuel/logistics transporter manager who handles a certain district of Chevron fuel transporters here in SoCal.

I usually avoid the scenario when I can. There have been a few rare instances where I had to get gas right then and risked it. It is not like your car will all of a sudden get worse after doing this.

Another tip is to either fill up your gas early in the morning or at night. So that the gas is more pure.

i'm sure the fuel is being filtered. but might want to stay away for a while just to be safe.

You are going to have to elaborate on this one Bryan.

Let me see if I can shed more light on what Bryan is trying to say.

You fill your tank in the morning or evening because during middle of the day, gas expands (obviously due to heat). Gasoline is more denser when it's cooler so you hypothetically get more gasoline in your tank than you would on a very hot middle of the day. I've heard this from somewhere, I forgot where though.

and if so i would expect it to be very negligible? i mean, it's liquid, the expansion and contraction isn't that dramatic?
