i dunno if this would work but.... i was preparing myself for what i would say if i got pulled over on my drive back home from the body shop...
"oh i'm sorry about that sir... i just got my car back from the paint shop and they told me to wait until after the paint gets color sanded to put the plates on..."

As long as your car is not excessively loud and looks very "racey" and you dont have a front plate, you'll be fine. If you are lowered on some nice/simple rims, maybe a subtle body kit and not a very large/flashy profile...a cop wont look at you twice...
