Question Visiting the islands end of April ... surf questions

Last time I was in Waikiki I really wanted to try surfing but there was a box jelly fish warning so that didn't happen.

So this time I really want to give it a go. I'm going to be on a cruise so I'll be visiting all the islans. My question is: which island is best for someone who has never ever surffed? (I have skiied before but I think that's not really similar).

And then, is there a specific company / 'school' I should learn with? I probably only get to do one day of it (less than I wanted but I'll take what I can get)

Or should I just leave it until the next visit when I can try it a few days in a row?

yeah, your best bet is hitting up waikiki. No appointment or anything necessary, just show up to the beach and there are lesson/board rental booths all over the place.

My recommendation is stay away from the west/north beaches. May want to visit north just to watch some big waves, there may still be some late season swells rolling in.

Waikiki is the best place to learn, check out "hawaii hot spot surf school" there. Ask for a guy named Earl. He's a good buddy of mine.....Tell him Dave with the Black STi referred you..

Waikiki is the most popular. The beach boys are the most famous. Hans Hedemann is a former ASP world tour surfer and legend in Hawaii. Hawaiian Fire takes you to a secluded beach, a local spot with spectacular views, and are run by a bunch of firemen (they are real firemen, not retired).

I think you should post pics regardless Stand or fail, we wanna see pics!

So when do you want the meet to be? We can always make time for our visiting CL family members. Let us know what day would work and we can make a casual get-together. Probably not in Waikiki, but somewhere close.

Oh and stay away from the Blow Hole near Sandy's. Dangerous place for someone not familiar with the area.

Not true. Stay within the viewing area and you'll be fine. Use common sense and follow the rules/signs and there is no chance of danger.

These people that get hurt don't follow the rules or read the signs. There are rails for a reason

Never have a meet in Waikiki....there's a particular cop that loves to stop and ticket modded cars.

April 23rd is a Thursday....24th is a Friday....not sure how many ppl will showup....we all work during the day.

Default Faymester Hawaiian Adventure

Ok guys, I'm on the islands ... I'm at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.

I get on the cruise ship (I just got corrected as I was typing, I'm not supposed to call it a 'boat', it's a 'ship') tomorrow, I'm going down to Hot Spot Surf School for 9am this morning.

Is there anything you think I REALLY, REALLY should do? & does anyone wanna come by and say aloha? I'd love to meet come of CLH.
