Hey Everyone

Just picked up a new RC F and am looking to get PPF installed. Chicago Auto Pros seem to get really good reviews but prices seem to also be at a
Premium. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good PPF installer? Either Xpel or 3M scotchgard pro series.

TIA for the help

UMBRA Window Tinting or LUSTR Auto Detail in Schaumburg.

I've seen the work they do at Chicago Auto Pros and was not too impressed.

👍👍 on Nino at Umbra. My go to guy for many years now. I didn't realize that LUSTR was next door until
Recently. I'll inquire with them.

Thanks again!

Well unless your getting a clear braw on your front of your vehicle all that is, is a compound of a wax/buff. It has absolutely no affect on how your paint will resist to the elements. Use a good car wash and buff and wax your car yearly. Bi-yearly use clay bar. Your car will look amazing.

I am not sure I quite follow this.

Clear bra is a clear urethane film that is applied wet on the paint.

It seals the paint completely from the elements. The only thing I can't say it protects from is long term (10+ years) uv exposure.

There's nothing better to protect from paint chips, swirls and scratches.

Some PPF brands have a self healing product that even if scratched or swirled will self correct and revert back to like new condition with heat.

You obviously still need to maintain the film like you would maintain your paint because stuff like acid bug guts, and bird droppings can and will permanently etch the material.

If you go with SunTek, it's so smooth in texture you literally cannot see it on there on most vehicles unless it's something really high end exotic where the surrounding paint has no orange peel at all.

I have to agree with you. I have suntek on my car and have rocks hit my hood, no chips

Thanks and agree with the above post. My original question on this thread was not whether PPF was worth it but rather opinions on local shops that would do a great job installing it. LUSTR keeps coming up so I'll stop by to chat with Ivan. Thanks again

Just had LUSTR/UMBRA do my Charger Hellcat with SunTek and 22PLE they did a fabulous job! If you've already had conversations with Ivan you probably got the right vibe from him. No hesitation in recommending them for the work.

How long did Lustr have your car for the job? I'd like to use them. but it's about an hour drive each way.

Yeah, I'm about 45 minutes away too. The work took two days.

Here's a quick picture of the PPF work done. Full hood, fenders, mirrors etc... then a topping of 22PLE.
