I've seen a handful of 3IS's on the road since I got mine and only one of them had no front plate. Anyone on here with a 3IS leave their front plate off? If so, have you encountered any tickets or warnings from the cops? Personally I want to take mine off but I wont if i have to deal with "fix-it" tickets, fines, or court.

Back in the day I had a '91 Mustang, I too didn't want to put the front license plate on. It started out fine, but once the cops learned I didn't have it on, they would keep a look out for me. Eventually I couldn't go anywhere until I put it on... So, the answer is, you may get away with it for a little while, but once they know you're not abiding by the law, they know you're easy money and will hunt you down!!

If it's really a concern, you could always go to Mr Kustom in Chicago on Irving Park Rd and have them install a electric retractable license plate! Link below... Or, buy it and install it yourself!!

It is illegal in the Sate of Illinois. You will get ticketed by the "roving" bands of Chicago Revenue "employees" and you will get pulled over by cops (if they have nothing better to do)... It's the revenue street walkers I would be worried about... minimum ticket for that is $100 from what my customers have reported

Ya a friend of mine had a ZO6 with no front plate on it and he got pulled over constantly. It really sucks because the front plate ruins the spindle grill on the 3IS. I've debated getting the grim speed plate relocation kit but I think that actually looks worse then the centered plate location. Decisions decisions.....

When i worked at Woodfield Lexus it was policy to NOT install front plates on newly purchased cars unless the customer requested it.

The law in illinois is that vehicles need both a front and rear plate. I, however, have never installed a front plate on my SC300 and I don't run a front plate on my integra either. On my daily, however, I do run a plate.

I've only been pulled over twice for no front plate (most of the time I'm getting pulled over for other reasons so police overlook it).

I just pay the tickets since they don't affect the driving record.

I put a GrimmSpeed relocator that goes on the tow hook. Looks pretty good but the downside came when someone back into my car last month and put some scrapes on the front bumper right where the stock license plate bracket goes...

I def. don't miss IL laws, especially that Front plate law. You could get away with it, but most of the time, especially if your car looks modded you'll probably get pulled over.

I have not had a front plate on my 2nd gen IS for 5 years now and no tickets so far (knock on wood). I think the fact that I never go into the City of Chicago and I don't park my car on public streets is why I don't get tickets for no front plate.

I don't have a plate on the front of my current car, and I haven't been pulled over yet (but I do most of my driving in the 'burbs). The car I had previously (an Audi) had a front license, so no problem. The car I had before that (an Infiniti) didn't have front plates, and I was pulled over twice: once in Glenview; and once in Streamwood.
