Fight a ticket???
I got a $120 ticket by a sheriff which was in kane county on the 16th of this month for "loud muffler".
Yesterday i got pulled once again by da same sheriff for the same reason its been like 7days i didnt even get a chance to "fix" it i get paid every 2weeks (which is tomorrow).
I mean ill pay the first one buh y should i pay for the second one should i take it to court or just pay off another $120???????
Ive gotten and get pulled over alot and the "muffler" is never a problem. I would understand if i get a ticket for blacked out taillights, sounds, or even having 5% tints all around

lol.. brings back memories... Go to court fight the ticket, say the muffler is legal in the state of IL and is within code for the noise. The officer has no way of proving how loud your muffler is because my guess is he does not have noise level device. I went to court let the judge know, and off I went with the ticket dismissed...

This happened to one of my friends by the Elgin Police. There was a cop sitting on a street he drives down daily to go to school, because of a person in the neighborhood complaining. The cop sat there every day, and pulled him over every day until it was fixed. I think he was only fined for one of them.

$125 is a heavy ticket for muffler. I got one but it was $25 and listed as a local noise ordinance. wasnt worth fighting.
As 87Cresddia said - how do they know it was to loud? if they didnt have something to measure the db level, they got nothing.

great chance cop wont show i usually have good luck with that too.. but you have to understand this also goes with sound systems if they can hear your vehicle over 80ft they have a right to pull you over. (brother in law is a cop) so do as 87Cressida said and you should b in good shape..
good luck
