Could I have gotten a parking ticket or fine?
Strange thing for me to ask this, but I'm wondering if I could have possibly gotten a parking ticket. Basically, I drove to Chinatown with my mom to pick up food. There was no parking so I parked in front of a fire hydrant. While I was waiting for my mom to get the food, a cop pulled up behind me and I slowly drove off. I drove around since I still got to pick up my mom, came back 2 minutes later and the cop is still sitting there and I find parking two spots in front. He finally drives off.
So I'm wondering if he was there writing a ticket or something or recording that I parked there? One of my friends in my English class last year said he parked in a two zone and a cop began writing a ticket. He ran out and drove off before the cop could put the ticket on his car. He comes back later on and finds the ticket with his plate number on the ground where he parked.
Could cops record me parking illegally and send me a fine in the mail? Or could the same thing that happen to the kid in my class? Or do I have to get an actual ticket put on my car?

Yea, I wouldnt worry much. You made an effort to move when you saw him, you were just waiting. He probably pulled up thinking he'd write you a ticket, but when you moved.. He took their usual 5 min break between relaxing and doing his job. CPD is always just sitting around killing time.
