Yes I have heard they are issuing tickets for more then what you got. Sorry to hear:/

Where you in the city? Usually thats the only place they will ticket on the street for tints that I am aware of.

Yeah I was at my job near elston and Addison. So pissed right now. I boughtthe car with tints but they are so light u can see right thru them. It's more of a smoked look. Now I have to strip them and they look to be on there pretty good.

Just leave it...we have a week left basically for it to be legal. no reason to pay to have it redone and maybe if you go to court you can fight it?? so long its the 35% or lighter. I have fought and won when I got a car from the dealer with tint more then once.

I think I'm going to do that I just don't want another ticket. This same cop on a bike always come by. I'm going to fight it, 250 is just crazy. This city will do anything for a buck!!!

So the bill is supposed to pass this week?

I just did some googleing on the subject and I would bet that windows tinting will NEVER be legal in Illinois. You guys are dreaming. The city of Chicago raised the fine to $250.00 july 1st and wrote over 30,000 tickets for it in 2008.
Also it is for police saftey.
And after reading the link I am not sure the bill even says they are trying to make it legal for everyone.

^ nope...35% all around "or" 50% up front if you have a SUV with factor tints "or" as dark as you want and nothing on the driver or passenger window. Any of these scenarios you can have 6" down on the front windshield.

If you have a WT plate you can go dark on any window including the front windshield.

It wont look bad but you can tell the difference from 35% to 20% IMO and with times as they are I am sure they are going to "look" for things. Also if you have a dark interior that will also make it look darker. 35% is light IMO but its better then nothing. I would go 20% all around if I could.

Haha yah i wish i could 20% all around. But i have a pretty light interior so i think ill do 20% on the back window and 35% on all sides just cuz those tint detection things they use have to have the window somewhat rolled down for it to hook on. And u cant do that with your rear window.

yea, i was thinking the same thing... i've got 20% on the back window and 35% up the sides. If this bill ever passes, i doubt they would actually ever test to see if the back window is 35%. (or would they???? hmmmmm)

So now they will pull you over just to meter the tint and if it's over the limit you are screwed
