Driving on Rt. 20 I must have seen at least 10-15 cars that spun out. I drove my sisters RWD Jeep Liberty, it did surprisingly well. I still have to get snow tires for my SC though.

I've got some Michelin X-ice snow tires on the GTI. This is the first winter that I've ever had a car w/ snows. I had no idea what I was missing! This thing handles the snow better than our Grand Cherokee!

Same here, George. This is the first year I put snows on the GS and the difference is night and day. I can't believe I waited this long to make the switch from all seasons. The GS with snow tires handles just as good if not better than most front wheel drive cars with regular all seasons.

By the way, it's good to see that you're still hanging around here. I always wonder whether I'll still sign on to CL if and when I ever sell the car.

Yup, that was my exact reaction the first time I bought a set of winter tires.

No problems at all with both the GS's and snow wheels. Actually I kept following a Monte Carlo and the guy kept spinning out each turn we took, after the 3rd one I passed him up cause he didnt seem like he knew what he was doing

I was out Saturday in the middle of the snow storm right about the point where it started to turn into ice..... with my down-to-wear-marks summer only performance tires...... let me put it this way: as soon as traction control did it's job ABS started to kick in. I was the slowest car on the road. So Tuesday I finally put the winter tires on.... no more problems.

Had the snow tires put on Saturday morning and used them that afternoon! No troubles with the snow tires at all. The only way to fly in winter.
