IMO the IS sucks in the snow regardless of snow tires or not. i purchased snow tires from another member....i must say the car is just not good in the snow compared to other rwd cars i have had. i still think the car stops as good as i did in the performance tires and drives the same way. i managed to get thru but i must say i think its the worst car i have driven in the snow...

i will say one thing that i do notice on a dry good day is the car is better on 17" tires. the take off and launch the car has is a big pick up from teh stock 18"....i like the looks of the larger rims but to feel the performance diference with more rubber is amazing!!!

Personally (now that I have winter tires) I think that the IS350 is just fine in the snow.

The 17" rims are lighter therefore you're seeing an increase in performance. That is why I'm planning to put some lightweight 18" on my IS.

i was almost considering 17" rims now and a drop?? at most i dont think i will go over 18" now like i wanted to. funny thing is i would have purchase 19" rims for the car had i not put these winter tires on. one thing i have noticed is my gas mileage has been down?? could just be the colder weather and just the timing of the switch? once i can get it clean i will post some pics as they dont look bad for winter rims on our car.

what are you planing on purchasing for rims?

Yeah, I don't want to go bigger than 18" either. I'm still not sure what rims I want but I want the weight to be under 20lb.

(I think your milage is down due to cold weather)

Stock generic tires (the ones that came with the car) a pair of sandbags and a light foot, I did fine that day.

Got my 22's put on Wednesday, Thursday was the craziest drive I have ever been on. At a stand stil the rear end of my car kept on sliding, I thought for sure I was going to get in an accident. I was not able to get my car over 20mph for most of the trip. Today I took my wife's AWD RX350 and it was a blast! This thing is perfect for this weather. My car will be hiding out in the garage for a while!

My Subaru drives like a champ in snow. Last night it took me a very long time to get home. Today I almost died. I was going 60 mph on 137. Big truck in front of me. I decided to change lanes and lo behold, a stalled truck in my line. Breaks don't work had to do emergency lane change. Missed the truck by few feet.

I'm lucky I didn't have work Thursday or Friday. I came home from school Thursday right before it started snowing.
