thanks for the nice categorized summary

i know the RC is a mix of IS and GS but would it be ok to add the IS and RC together in the entry level combined category?

for December that would be 4432+1042=5474

Hardly a trend since it's only one month, but interesting to see the new Continental outsold the Caddy CT6 in December 1,845 to 1,293. CT6 sales for the year were greater than the Continental 9,169 vs. 5,261 but I think the Continental came out later in the calendar year.

Lexus needs to do something on its high-end models, many people are considering Audi as a better brand than Lexus now.

That's true.
Today, most high end luxury vehicles and a good amount of lower priced luxury vehicles are leased.
Many like myself don't fear leasing a German,Swedish,Korean etc auto manufacturer because the vehicles are in basic warranty and not kept long term.

That's what happens when alllll your higher end models are OOOLLLLLLDDDDDD or a mishmash of parts. Styling and handling packages can only you get so far. Dont see the trend reversing for another 2 yrs when the new platform is passed down after the LS and the TNGA being passed up to the entry level models.

While a very high percentage of luxury cars are leased, I do want to remind people that almost half are still bought. Sometimes reading car forums (not just this one in particular) sometimes people make it sound like 90% of BMW's/Mercedes/whatever out there are leased. Here's a great, relatively recent infographic from Car and Driver: http://blog.caranddriver.com/the-mos...nly-purchased/. That being said, certain models (C-class, 3-series) are pushing 60-70% leased.

It is impressive that Lexus was only about 7k units from beating Mercedes. And thats with only 2 high volume suv models and declining car volumes. Bring on that 3 row TX or whatever they call it and annual sales could possibly be near the 400k annual unit.
