AMG 63 S hits the 600hp mark but they're all still playing follow the CTS-V.

I was thinking the same thing. I bet the AMG is faster off the line due to AWD but the Cadillac would pass it on the highway and flat out blow its doors off on a road course. I'm also betting the Cadillac is a lot more fun and engaging than the AMG on a twisty road, AMG cars have never really been known for their handling, just as straight line cruise missiles.

What do these go for $ wise? More than $100k?

They haven't been known as straight line cruise missiles for a long time. Perhaps you haven't been paying attention to events like Car & Driver's Lightning Lap- they're posting great numbers on the track. Hell, the AMG GT was MT's Best Driver's Car last year.

It will be interesting to see the track tests between this car vs. the M5 vs. the CTS-V.

P.S. Should we merge this thread? There's plenty of E63 talk going on in the main thread.

The current one crests $100k, so absolutely.

How much more fun and engaging could it really be. Come on, these cars have how much power?

But the cadi interior is a huge let down. With the new E63, I really have to see how good the M5 is before making a decision. And I think the S version should be 120k+ with options.

the previous gen e63s with options already top 120k, this car won't be anything less (optioned out)

agreed. the old w211 was ok on handling, but even the w212 was so much better on handling already. recent mb have improved drastically on handling. i do admit they can use more weight reduction though

Assuming this to be true, I doubt Mercedes would care a lick. When is the last time anybody saw a CTS-V, let alone a regular CTS, on the road? Nobody wants one, so what does Benz have to worry about?

Cadillac sold A LOT of 2nd gen regular CTS's and CTS-V's This current 3rd gen, people stopped buying when they jacked the MSRP up from 65k to 90k.

And you're right, Benz has their customer base and could care less what Cadillac is doing. Both of them are niche models that might move a couple thousand units a year, but for Cadillac, the previous CTS-V was a sales hit for a niche model.

time to get the 2014 tuned! i still wish AMG would go supercharged again, the E63 biturbo doesn't have that instantaneous whiplash power delivery that the E55 did.
