Great post and thanks for sharing your views on the Q7. I personally love the new styling. It's conservative, clean, boxy, modern, and edgy. I feel it has the best looking greenhouse of any SUV. No stupid curves or embellishments that plague nearly all other makes. Visibility also appears to be excellent. I'm hoping the more affordable Q5 debuts to my liking. I really miss owning an Audi and an SUV would be in my future.

But unlike the Q7, the A4 DOES look great in white with the 19" Sport package and tints! Haven't loved a sedan this much since my GS F Sport.
Love it! Congrats.

though the gls is more expensive and also larger
I've only driven the GLS450, but the Q7 is a far more dynamic drive. This makes sense given its larger size, aging platform, and higher ride height. Nice SUV, next-generation model should be awesome in 2-3 years.

Yes, with the Prestige Package on both the Q7 and A4 you can change various groups of interior lighting to a variety of colors. Pretty cool. I don't have that so mine are all white but still nice...

Thanks for the review, Steve. Q7 is one of our choices. I will need a 3 row suv when I turn in the gs. GX and X5 are the other choices. Did you happen to know what kind of deals you can get on a 66k sticker like this?

Only 3 vents, that middle area isn't a vent.

Didn't get that far with them, but having driven all the vehicles you listed I would certainly choose the Q7. The X5 has a pretty useless third row if you actually need the third row, and the GX is tricky, ponderous, not nearly as nice inside as either of these.

I think the X5 is better looking outside, but like I said if you actually need the third row...

The middle area actually is a vent. It blows what Audi calls "diffused air" into the cabin, which is supposed to be a more natural air flow. You don't really feel anything coming out of those vents, but I can tell you the A/C system is terrific. The vents are also throwbacks to the dashboards of some of the Audis of long ago.

Middle air vents in A4...

I'm sure they are the same in the Q7.

Great vehicle objectively, but it leaves me very cold inside and out. Too conservative and characterless, and like most Audis it won't be anything special to drive.

C&D which puts a lot of emphasis on driving dynamics rates the Q7 as tops in its segment (same with the new A4, A6 and A3 in their segments). It's just one magazine but it seems to indicate Audi's drive pretty well these days.

Yes, they do, but I'm biased.
