It's not hard to get compliant ride and good handling these days. The IS350 has better handling than the 335 with a more compliant ride. Same with the ATS. Competitors have caught up for the most part.

I prefer BMW's exterior styling over the IS and ATS interiors are a wash, for me any way

Depends on what one calls "compliant". It's true that not every vehicle today necessary has a bone-jarring stiff ride like a Mitsubishi Evo, but what many consider to be "compliant" today, I find quite firm. No matter how soft one makes the suspension or shocks, one still has to deal with comparatively low-profile tires today. The real problem, today, is that the wheels are too large and the tire-profiles too low. That helps handling, but usually doesn't help ride comfort....you still have somewhat of a compromise between the two. The Genesis 5.0L is one of the very few cars today that do seem to get a soft ride with low-profile tires.....I'm not quite sure how the engineers do it.
