2JZ-GE 3.0L I-6
When Toyota/Lexus fanboys hear “2JZ” they think Mark IV Supra and turbo power, but you mention the non-turbo 2J, people usually stop paying attention. That needn’t be the case when it comes to the 1st generation Lexus IS300 (XE10). Before Lexus’ F and F-sport existed, the IS300 was Lexus’ sports sedan, with a naturally aspirated 2JZ kicking up 240 horses and the option of a 5-speed manual transmission. The manual IS300s are still highly sought after little gems, as they make great daily drivers and have a borderline un-killable motor.
Pretty sure the GE put out 227hp max

3MZ-Hybrid 3.3L V6
The 3MZ was the predecessor of the aforementioned 2GR V6, and again, was fitted to most of the Lexus line up at some point. The version of the 3MZ we care about is the 3.3L Hybrid, as seen in the RX330h. Love it or hate it, hybrid powertrains have become increasingly common across the Lexus spectrum, and the 3MZ-Hybrid was the one that started it all.
Think you meant RX400h

2GR-FSEThe 2GR is the current corporate V6 found in just about every model in the Lexus family. It’s smooth as silk, linear and surprisingly fuel efficient, there is no reason Lexus won’t keep this direct-injected 3.5L V6 around for the indefinite future. If our praise isn’t enough, it should be noted that the 2GR is a very flexible platform, and is easily swapped into other chassis. We mention this because the 2GR is Lexus’ current choice of engine for their sports cars like the Evora and Exige. They swap the intake manifold for a supercharger and have 400 reliable, Toyota/Lexus-sourced horsepower.
In another post, someone mentioned that when Lexus is quiet, they are up to something. So is this what they were up to -- did Lexus finally buy Lotus?

Actually that's a good catch, looks like another error in the article. Should read: We mention this because the 2GR is Lotus’s current choice of engine for their sports cars like the Evora and Exige. They swap the intake manifold for a supercharger and have 400 reliable, Toyota/Lexus-sourced horsepower.

edit* another thing, article should just say 2GR, not 2GR-FSE. The cars like the Lotus's mentioned above utilize the 2GR-FE

I'd have to vote for the 2JZ-GE 3.0L in-line six used in the 1Gen IS300, GS300, and SC300. Not the most powerful engine Lexus ever did, and it guzzled premium gas like a V8, but it was smooth as silk, quiet, perfectly balanced, durable, refined, dependable, and unbreakable...I've heard of them going 300,000 miles. Earlier, both normally-aspirated (220 HP) and twin-turbo (320 HP) versions of this engine were used in the 90s-vintage Toyota Supra.

I love the 2JZ in my SC300. In that application, it is a bit louder than most Lexus engines when you rev it up past 3500rpm. But man it sounds great, great exhaust note as well. Much better sounding than the 2GR V6, which sounds like a vacume cleaner under full throttle, but man its quick in light bodied cars like the IS or Camry.

That post in the article above about possibly giving the next ISF the LFA's V10 gave me goosebumps lol. That would be an amazing vehicle for sure!

Sounds like wishful thinking on the OP's part. When the IS F does return from hiatus it'll likely be a FI 6 or 8 cylinder.

Oh yeah I know, it's just a nice "what if" kind of thought. But what I meant is that the thought of the next ISF or GSF having a v10 that nice, is something that got me excited lol. But yeah I agree, it's more than likely getting a turbo upgrade next. Most likely with a v6 as well. Although a turbo V8 would be much cooler

Isn't this just a list of all the engines that Lexus ever used?
