I'm almost 100% sure they will detune the engine if there will even be 5th Gen GS, at this point its up in the air.....
I highly doubt they will spend the $$$ to put the new powertrain in the old GS/IS chassis.
I think they dragged the 3.5 V6 for 10 years plus, because they were expecting us to all move onto their 3.5 V6 gasoline -electric hybrid.
I almost bought the GS450h, but I just thought it wasn't quite right somehow.
Hybrids just haven't succeeded somehow.
The trunk space is compromised, while all that extra weight compromises the dynamics.

Because NSX II moved into a 3.5 V6 TT hybrid or whatever, I think Lexus is pre-empting that the industry will move from the current 3.0 TT formula to a 3.5 TT formula.

I hope they don't get rid if GS; they should get rid of ES to allow GS to sell.

After studying the press release engine cutaway photos a bit, I think Lexus is using a conventional turbo setup, with one turbo near the exhaust manifold on each side.

It's probably more similar to Infinit's 3.0 L V6 TT than anything innovative like Porsche's reverse-flow header design with turbos on top.

Which means that if this engine will indeed go into the GS, it will be pretty much identical to the LS engine and just simply detuned. Nothing mechanically different probably, although who knows.

Which also means you can buy a much cheaper GS (assuming the engine does indeed make its way there) and probably unlock LS power for practically nothing assuming you have the wherewithal do it.

Again, I don't know for sure so we'll just have to wait and see.
